Growing and Gardening runs deep within my being:
Everyday as a young child I was surrounded by Lots of house plants that filled every windowsill within our home.
I also enjoyed a unique and beautiful garden, where I as a child I would play, explore and sunbathe, all created by hard working enthusiastic parents with a deep passion for growing, both garden and house plants.

This garden was very inspirational and special and very different from the norm. All hand built by myself and my father we built a good sized garden pond that contained a variety of fish, along with colourful ducks that we bred, and also two small geese. It boasted hand made waterfall and fountain and the natural sound was beautiful and very relaxing in the sunshine.

We then also built a bird Avery that was full of colourful small prize winning birds that we bred, and which won many trophy’s for their beauty. I built while at school home made incubators where i hatched and hand reared ducks and quale’s, and we had bantam hens and enjoyed fresh eggs for breakfast everyday.

So for me the sights, sounds of running water, bathed in nature’s sights and sounds of a living garden greatly influenced my style and passion for both creating and gardening.

Fond memories of my youth that crafted my love for nature and my preferred current gardening style!
Blending both organic and synthetic traditional gardening I give my clients the very best of both worlds with child safe and pet friendly products that strike the perfect balanced echo systems that I restore, maintain and manage in my gardening practices today.  

Embedded passion for nature – born right from the earliest days of my childhood.

This passion then blossomed when my brother John, and sister Janet each opened florist shops in Swinton Manchester and in Wigan, respectively. 

Both my parents then helped to get these businesses of the ground and became qualified florists, and my mother “Edna” was still working in the Wigan “Four Seasons Florists Shop” Well into her Nineties… Edna and Janet, was well known in Wigan and surrounding areas both for their passion for floristry and their knowledge of plants and flowers. 

A Childhood Immersed in Greenery

My journey in the world of gardening began amidst a family deeply rooted in the greenery of nature. From a young age, I was surrounded by the boundless passion of my parents, who tended to our garden with unwavering dedication. My father’s love for nurturing seeds and cuttings resonated throughout our home, while my mother’s skilled hands crafted enchanting floral arrangements that adorned every corner. 

Our Family’s Floral Legacy

Our household was a sanctuary of plants, where no space was left untouched by the lush greenery. The influence of my family’s green thumb extended beyond our home, as my brother established a thriving florist, fish market, and fruit and vegetable shop. Together, we poured our hearts into the business, working tirelessly on bustling days and special occasions, ensuring that each floral creation was a testament to our shared love for nature’s bounty.

My sister, Janet, further enriched our family’s floral legacy with her own flourishing flower shop in the Wigan area amidst the fragrance of fresh blooms, we collaborated to bring joy to countless weddings, Valentine’s Days, and other celebrations, often burning the midnight oil to fulfil every order with meticulous care.

Discovering My Path in Nature

These formative years instilled in me a profound appreciation for the wonders of nature, leading me to spend countless days immersed in the great outdoors, fishing, camping, and exploring. It was during this time that I honed my gardening skills, working alongside Wigan Council to restore and preserve the natural beauty of streams, canals, and woodlands.

My journey of discovery continued as I delved into the study of nature and various gardening techniques, with a particular focus on plant cultivation and organic soil nutrition. Armed with this knowledge, I embarked on a mission to blend traditional wisdom with modern innovation, crafting gardens that are both timeless and sustainable.
